Testimonial
My 14 year old Labrador Retriever struggled with chronic hip pain for years. He struggled walking up stairs and no longer enjoyed walks. There were some nights when his pain was so severe, he was unable to make it out of his bed. After three sessions, we were able to see a definitive improvement. He actually began bringing us his toys to play. Seeing this shift in his personality meant the world to us. He is a retired service dog and loved interacting with people and exploring the town. Making him more comfortable and ensuring he enjoyed his remaining time was important to all of us.

What is Canine Acu Touch?
Canine Acu Touch is a combination of three proven therapies (Canine Bowen, Acu Pressure, trigger points) taught by Barbara Ahern, who specializes in holistic healing. It focuses on gentle movements in specific patterns to target the lymphatic system via the Canine Bowen approach. We also work along the energy and nerve pathways using Acu Pressure and trigger points to address pain and constriction in every muscle, tendon, and ligament of the body. Canine Acu Touch utilizes all three therapies in a single touch.
FAQs
How does Canine AcuTouch work?
Canine AcuTouch (C.A.T.) works holistically to balance the nervous system and strengthen the immune system. So C.A.T. addresses conditions related to pain response, stress, emotional issues, inflammation, recovery time, and other disorders.
Can C.A.T. replace veterinary care?
C.A.T. is the perfect companion to veterinary care but should not be used in cases of emergency. Your dog’s best quality of life is achieved by a team of holistic and veterinary practitioners.
What happens during a C.A.T. session?
It takes about 30-45 minutes for a C.A.T. session. Your dog receives a series of very gentle touches across soft tissue. A 2 minute wait period is allowed between moves so the brain could interpret the request for change. This sends a new “memory” back to the origin of pain and trauma.
Are there any side effects with C.A.T.?
No. C.A.T. is safe, gentle and rehabilitative - with no side effects. For these reasons, C.A.T. is a great choice as a first course of action.

FounderWhen she started this journey, she was inersted in the therapuetic benefits of massage. After spending 21 years perfecting her techniques in humans, she began trying to translate them to animals, specifically canines and horses. In 2013, she was able to finally bring her dream into fruition. Since then, Barbara’s helped countless canines across California. She has also switched her focus and is now spreading her teachings to the next generation of providers.

Holistic Practitioner
I have always a love of dogs and wanted to focus on improving their quality of life. I found these techniques alluring because they combine anatomy with holistic approaches. After studying under Barbara and applying my own knowledge of animal anatomy, I have decided to bring these teachings to the east coast. I offer in person session in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, but would love to expand my reach through remote sessions.
